Alan Tolbert has been the Director of Bands at Hart County High School since 1999. Alan and his wife, Gina, have one child, a daughter Madeline. Alan graduated from Hart County High School in 1989. After attending Gainesville College he graduated from the University of West Georgia with his Bachelors Degree in Music Education in 1996. While attending West Georgia he was a member of the West Georgia Marching Band, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, and Chorale. As a percussionist, Alan has performed and recorded with groups including, Hartland, The Razzamajazz Quintet, Empty House, Soul Cages, Tommy Preston’s Blues Revue and currently as a member of Big Teach and Second Time Around. In 2005 he received his Master of Arts from Piedmont College Followed by a Specialist Degree in Education in 2013. Alan was the Director of Bands at White county High School prior to his current position at Hart County. Mr. Tolbert proudly served as an Artilleryman in the Georgia Army National Guard. Mr. Tolbert has served as Fine Arts Department Chair, been selected as STAR Teacher three times and been named Teacher of the Year.
