
Alan Tolbert has been the Director of Bands at Hart County High School since 1999. Alan and his wife, Gina, have one child, a daughter Madeline. Alan graduated from Hart County High School in 1989. After attending Gainesville College he graduated from the University of West Georgia with his Bachelors Degree in Music Education in 1996. While attending West Georgia he was a member of the West Georgia Marching Band, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, and Chorale. As a percussionist, Alan has performed and recorded with groups including, Hartland, The Razzamajazz Quintet, Empty House, Soul Cages, Tommy Preston’s Blues Revue and currently as a member of Big Teach. In 2005 he received his Master of Arts from Piedmont College Followed by a Specialist Degree in Education in 2013. Alan was the Director of Bands at White county High School prior to his current position at Hart County. Mr. Tolbert proudly served as an Artilleryman in the Georgia Army National Guard. Mr. Tolbert has served as Fine Arts Department Chair, been selected as STAR Teacher twice and been named Teacher of the Year.

Sam Brown is going into his 4th year working with the HCHS Auxiliaries. Sam is a Hartwell native and graduated from Hart County High School in 2013. Sam works as an independent contractor choreographing for regional and state schools, theatres and talent companies. He has performed across the country through dance and he has received many awards for his choreography. In his spare time he volunteers at Hart County Community Theatre, where he serves on the board of directors as Vice President. He is also Music Director of Cokesbury UMC in Hart County.

Kevin Hays is the Elementary Music Teacher at South Hart Elementary School. He was a graduate of Central Gwinnett High School in 2010. Kevin graduated in 2016 with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from the University of West Georgia. While attending UWG, Kevin served as the equipment manager and performed in the Wind Ensemble (percussion and tuba), Symphonic Band (tuba and clarinet), Marching Band: "The Sound that Lights the South," Brass Ensemble, and Tuba Ensemble. Kevin performed a recital in 2015 and toured as a member of the Maple Street Brass Quintet in 2015. Kevin was the recipient of the Mary Lou Munn award for Music Education and the Gordon Watson Award for Music. Kevin served in many leadership roles at UWG including band captain, low brass captain, and brass captain. Kevin has worked with Carrollton City Schools Bands, Paulding County High School Band, Mt Zion High School Band, and Temple Middle School Band. Kevin is affiliated with Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity and the National Association of Music Education.
